Hi all!
Whenever I have asked lighting people about this they say it is the
quality of the transformer that determines the amount of buzzing. The
more expensive the less buzzing. Does anyone on the list have
experience with a very low to no buzzing fixture?
Currently I use halogen shop lights. Great color but they produce a
fair amount of heat and bulbs are expensive.

Yes, Candise, there is a quieter light. We built a small studio about a
year or so ago and the fluorescent buzzing was annoying. There is another
fluorescent type fixture that is quieter, but our electrician said they had
been known to interfer with computers. Others disagreed. Anyway, he was
nice enough to replace all of them with the other type and they are fine.
I don't know what type of fixture it is, but it takes an F32T8/TL 75 bulb.
The lights are quiet and we have experienced no problems with the computers.

I have florescent and incandescent in my studio....every morning, except in
the summer, when I turn on the florescents....they buzz a bunch.....was told
that the transformers have to be above 55 degrees F.....or warmer, then will
stop/or lessen the buzz....seems to be true.
