Oops! Apologies for the misspelling of 'Egyptian', all those whose
sensibilities were offended. It was really late and I was careless, now
I'm a bit embarrassed, but also heartened by the generosity of the
clayart community. I still haven't heard from anyone regarding the
medium being used currently or any contemporary artist incorporating the
paste, any ideas?
Hoping to redeem myself

Anni-
One contemporary clay artist using Egyptian Paste is Neil Forrest, at the Nova
Scotia College of Art and Design in Halifax. I'm sure his work has been covered
in the Canadian mag. "Contact."

Hi Anni,
Recipes for Egyptian Paste have been posted on Clayart in the past - they
might reside in the archives. I haven't tried any of them, but I have used
packaged Egyptian paste which I've purchased from Nasco (1-800-558-9595).
I've mixed it in a large ziplock bag, all it takes is water.
Each year, I do a project with 6th graders who are studying ancient Egypt.
I have them make scarabs, amulets & other small objects with it. I dry them
on small pieces of plastic or foil so the "glaze" doesn't form on the
bottom (makes it easier for me when firing).
