kilnwash for fancy shelves

Good Evening Group; My friend Al Bain has gotten some fancy Crystar shelves
for his school (I won't tell you how) and wants a foolproof recipe for
kilnwash for these 12x24 shelves to be used in an institutional setting(big
wear&tear). He'll probably move out of his Neo-Luddite pose to ask you
himself; but I aim to prime the pump and get you thinking about his
question as he needs an answer soon.....school's in session, midterms are
upon us! Any ideas? Gratefully, and using no wash on my own Crstars, Hank
in Eugene

I use both crystars and advancers at Linfield (school situation). I spray
with ITC100HT--thin coat. Use for one fire and then spray with ITC296A
--thin final coat. Spray both sides. Works. NL

Hi Hank:

I use crystars and advancers. This is the wash I use.

75% alumina hydrate
25% kaolin

Spray the wash on. About a sixteenth inch will do fine.
