I have made beautiful ash glazes by calcining what I have. Then sift, and use
directly in recipe, without washing. I get good results.
Please don't take this the wrong way, BUT: It's been a very bad fire season
in California (Big Sur, Yolo, Shasta, etc, etc,) There should be washed ash
all over the place after last week's rain.
