Hi,

The only article that mentions gas is in Ceramics Technical No. 3 1996,
Crystalline Glazes by Peter Deck. He only makes a mention of the reduced
crystalline, but says he was disappointed at the results and doesn't pursue
this avenue in the article.

If you want to do reduction with electric kilns, the literature is
available. It describes an oil-dripping method to induce reduction. I
suspect a good vent is in order :)

-The Studio Potter, Vol.25, No.1 1996, specifically the section on Red
Crystal Reduction by Leon Bush
-Ceramics Monthly, March 1991, Crystal Glazes in Reduction! by Thomas S.
Carroll
-Chapter Eleven of Diane Creber's Crystalline Glazes book is about
reduction. It also shows striking examples of this type of firing.

For a list on more crystalline glazes literature available you can visit
http://clay.justnet.com/toolbox/crystal.htm.

It would be nice if anyone currently does gas reduction to publish
something for us neophytes... or did I miss it? :)

I hope this helps a bit. Cheers,

Yes, I have learned from my mistakes...
I can reproduce them exactly.
