Hi!
I tried some materials in the clay and in the glaze:
Vermiculite appears in two ways, flakes and pressed chips.I choused the
flakes, because I wanted it mainly for glazes. In the clay, at ^04 ^03
golden flakes. At ^6 small holes (melted).
In the glaze, granular, was interesting, but milling in coffee mill was too
hard."well milled" just like another material.
Here the analysis from the Ceramic Web:
VERMICULITE
SiO2 49
Al2O3 7.96
MgO 22.2
CaO 10.99
Li2O .02
I have seen works that used Vermiculite chips they were nice! at ^7 The
vermiculite did not melt and had interesting black flacks. (I was not over
impressed )
I like to add for speckles basalt granular.I couldn't test it enough because
I cannot buy it lately. At ^6 it melts, weakens the clay and drives away the
glaze. very interesting! anyway, you get the speckles already after the
bisque
Coal Ash (Rough ) melts in the clay and lives holes. In glazes
interesting, like a "dirty kaolin" I still work on it.
That all
Ababi
