The current discussion regarding Diana Pancioli's new book on extruders has
prompted me to make this tardy report and offer a belated thank-you to
Diana for an inspiring and informative workshop she gave at our
Potters'Guild in October. Diana brought lots of bisqued examples that had
been "models" for her book for us to see, as well as a large assortment of
dies. She demonstrated the use of dies to make molds and to make components
of assembled forms with extruded pieces. We all had a chance to try our
hands at making ewers with pieces that Diana extruded for us. As an extra
bonus, Diana treated us to a fascinating slide show of historical ceramics.
We also go a sneak preview of Diana's book on extruders- we all wanted a
copy immediately, but we 'll have to wait like everyone else! It's a good
bet that our old extruder will be getting more use as soon as we make some
new dies. Thanks again, Diana, for the great workshop.
