China2000 Conference and related travel program
The China Ceramic Cultural Exchange Program and the China Ceramic Council
are pleased to announce China 2000, which comprises the Fushan Wood-firing
Conference, the "Spirit of Porcelain" Symposium in Jingdezhen, the Sanbao
International Ceramic Working Village and two week related travel to
historical ceramic and kiln sites in China.
The 1st Fushan International Ceramics Woodfiring Conference will take place
on May 20 to 25, 2000 in Shiwan, Guangdong Province, PR of China. Shiwan is
a pottery centre in the south of China, involved in woodfiring for over 600
years. The conference includes workshops, lectures, exhibitions, a film
festival, tours of pottery studios, and a food festival. Participants will
take part in the firing of an ancient dragon kiln.
The International Ceramics Symposium, "The Spirit of Porcelain, from Song
Dynasty to Today", will be held on May 25 to 28, 2000, in Jingdezhen, the
centre of porcelain production in China for over 1000 years. During the
symposium, the history of porcelain making will be revealed through
lectures, workshops, seminars, and a survey of the Song kiln sites, Kaolin
and China Stone mining, and studio/workshops.
Post-symposium travel will include Jingdezhen (the centre of porcelain in
China), Wuhan (bronze instruments and lacquerware museum), Xian (the
terracotta soldier museum), Chenlu (Yaoware Museum and Chenlu Yaoware
Village, the living history of pottery since Song dynasty), Handan (Song
sites of Cizhou ware), and Beijing.
Travel funds up to $1000.00 are available to eligible applicants.
