I hope I am in contact with the right persons.

I have a glaze recipe that calls for K200 Feldspar. Val Cushing's Karen's
Sunshine Aqua. I have been told not to substitute. I cannot find K200.
Any suggestions about where to find it or what I can use?
Thanks

Sheila A:
K200 feldspar has not been mentioned for sometime -- one concludes
therefore that it is no longer mined. This high potassium oxide spar has
a close cousin in Custer fs:
Oxide K200 Custer
CaO 0.04 moles 0.03 moles
K2O 0.60 0.67
Na2O 0.34 0.30
Al2O3 1.00 1.05
SiO2 6.12 7.17

If your recipe includes Silica/Flint/Quartz, then all one needs to do is
use less silica (via calculation) and substitute Custer fs in place of
K200 fs. If the recipe has no Flint, then a full glaze calculation will be
needed to make the adjustment. I, and many others, could do the
calculation for you.
Good tests. Peace. Tom B.

Shelia,

We have used the Karen's Starshine many time substituting any potash
feldspar, G-200 or Custer.

Looks great.
