Hi Pug-
Here is Woo Yellow, ^8-10, from Kean College in Union NJ circa 1986. I
really liked this glaze but no longer fire in reduction. It's mustard
yellow matte thin, lemon yellow semi-gloss thicker, dry brown if very
thin. Runs if too thick.

Kaolin 7
Barium Carb 25
Dolomite 11
Flint 7
Zircopax 15

Hi:
Woo Yellow should defintely be avoided for food contact ware. Low silica,
low alumina, barium at bit over the recommended limit, not enough KNaO, ad
nauseum. I would wager my last pfennig that this glaze would leach barium.

i wonder if anyone has altered the woo yellow to get rid of the barium?
what about a substitution of equal parts magnesium cazrb and whiting?

I used this glaze a bit when I was in school - I have reformulated it with
Strontium.
The expansion is quite high - probably going to craze on most bodies - one
of the benifits of subing Strontium is the expansion is lowered - cause you
need less and it has about the same expansion rate as Barium.
Strontium glazes have an even better responce to iron than Barium glazes -
in my opinion.
