I design and make architectural tile and tile furnishings. Up to now, I had
worked by word of mouth and mainly for people I knew=3B but I recently was =
asked
to produce a tile mural for a restaurant and would love to pursue that. My
problem is that I have no training in how to price my work. This would be a
low-relief, custom designed tile mural and I work at cone 6 with stoneware =
clay
and glazes. Short of asking other tilemakers out there for their price =
lists
(very rude, I would suppose), could any of you tell me your theory of =
pricing??
Do you charge x dollars per square foot? Do you assess the costs of =
producing
each individual job? Are there any good resources out their for pricing =
custom
work?
If anyone cared to share what they charge per square foot that would be =
great,
too (and you could email me privately at firechild=40firechild.com). I have=
been
told more than once that I undercharge for my work and I hate the idea of =
doing
that because it hurts our profession as a whole.
thanks=21=21
