Emne: liner glazing help needed
----------------------------Original message----------------------------
Suggestions needed for getting a nice clean line at the rim of a piece when
you are lining the pot with a different glaze than the outside. Mine just
do not look crisp and clean. Thanks Veronica
Hi Veronica,
You may try glazing the inside of your pot and cleaning the lip as you want =
it.
Wax over the glazed lip carefully to it's boarder.
Dip outside of your pot as precisely as possible up to the waxed boarder.
Wipe off, carefully not disturbing the inside glaze, any glaze that overlaps=
on
the wax.
The two glazes should meet each other with a clean boarder, providing they =
are
stable glazes. I do this with engobes and speculate it would work the same =
for
glazing.

Alisa and Veronica,
I see, Alisa, so far you and I are the only ones to suggest glazing the
inside first; several other people glaze the outside first, wax, and then
glaze the inside. I'm sure that works just fine. I am writing to clarify
the way I glaze the outside; I place the inverted bowl on 2 sticks over a
pan, and pour the glaze on the pot, after waxing the foot. If it's a
platter too large to fit over a pan, I hold it inverted with my left hand
and rotate while pouring, over the bucket . This is a little tricky, you
can get back-splatters...I don't know how tidy an effect you want.
