Hey, John,
How's it going? Have a short (I hope!) question for you. I'm fixing to make a fe
small press/sprig type molds and wonder what the best thing is for the original
sculpture? I would *like* to use plasticene so I can "fiddle" around with 'em fo
while 'til I get the pieces like I want them without having to worry about the c
drying out. I've done some moldmaking (Science Fiction costuming; molds intended
for latex costume "appliances") and for that I used oil-based clay. Is there any
reason I *shouldn't* use oil based clay? Also, I've become aware that the oil-cl
comes in different hardnesses. I thought the "medium-firm" might be the best for
small pieces no larger than the span of a hand. Would this be correct? I do know
I've heard/read about making the positive from plaster as a sharper mold can be
made from it, but the hassle one has to go through in order to separate the mold
from the positive does *not* sound like my idea of a good time .
Thanks for any help you can give!

Sl`inte,
Cindy
