What other list could get away with a title like that?
Not having the time or energy to spend on mixing my own clay bodies
(opening up a nice plastic bag is enough for me), I would like to hear
some comments/personal anecdotes on some of the commercial clay bodies
that ClayArters use; specifically stoneware in the cone 5-7 range. Right
now I'm using Standard 378 which produces a nice speckle from the
addition of granular manganese, but have been thinking about trying the
Standard 181 also as I believe I would like a lighter color to glaze
over also. I'm beginning throwing, and I add "sculptural bits" to the
pots, plus some handbuilding/sculpture type pieces. I'm not into "big,"
At *this* point, I don't see myself getting over 10# of clay into
anything. (I centered 2.5# the other day! Wow! )
My supplier (Davens) is in Atlanta, and they carry Standard and Laguna
clays.
Any and all comments appreciated!
