Mary Jean,
I have used many glazes from Laguna. Many of the cone 10 glazes they
sell were originally formulated by Carlton Ball. I routinely add 1% of
Macaloid to every glaze I use. I find that it prevents the glaze from
settling or flaking off the bisqued ware.
Probably using CMC might do the same and prove to be less
expensive.(12.5 grams of CMC mixed with 1pint of water- let sit overnight
until completely dissolved) Then add one tablespoon of the CMC mix to 100
grams of glaze that has been mixed with water. I prefer Macaloid.
Most clay companies have very good catalogues that not only list the
products they have for sale , but also give some instructions how to
make use of them.
