Hi Pam,
As you probably remember I am looking for a controller. I have fired lusters
and since the pot is already been through a glaze firing I simply load the
stuff in the kiln, prop the lid open, put an 018 cone in the sitter, turn it
on hi, and get out of the shed. The stuff really stinks and is toxic. Put a
fan on to blow the stuff out. I have found that silver and storm blue work
best over gloss black. I don't know if this is the rule but it's been my
experience.
Good Luck

Jim,
I am attempting to "fancy up" some small pieces by firing them in a burn-out
oven used for lost wax castings. It is one of my pieces of work equipment
and has a great thermocouple and digital controller, but I have not used it
with ceramic pieces and just wondered what the ramps and holds are on a
luster cycle. Tried it yesterday, so far ok...no break ups and good gold
color.
Thanks Pam
