substituting spodumene for petalite

updated thu 16 dec 99

My 25-year-old recipe for Reitz Green is slightly different
than yours, Donald:

Reitz Green, Cone 10

nepheline syenite 72
whiting 5
colemanite 5 (I just substituted Gerstley Borate 1:1
when colemanite was no longer available)
kaolin 8
petalite 10
+1% cobalt carbonate
1 1/2% rutile

OR

replace the petalite with:
spodumene 6
flint (silica) 4

To keep the same ratio in your recipe, you would replace
petalite 15
with
spodumene 9
flint 6

It's funny how these recipes get altered as they travel
around. Kinda like the game where everyone sits in a
circle and tells a story to the person next to them.
In this case, these difference are, I'm sure, insignificant.
