The Salem Art Association and the Marjorie T. Sherman Community Ceramics
Center are proud to announce that famed studio potter Patrick Horlsey will be
conducting a 2 day workshop, March 4-5. Patrick will be covering thrown and
altered forms, with an emphasis on changing the geometry of a form. Examples
of some of the pots that he will be demonstrated are:
Thrown oval lidded casseroles
Two piece pitchers
Square lidded jars (these are REALLY COOL!)
Thrown square vases
LARGE platters
and Patrick's signature teapots cut from thrown shapes with extruded parts.

Patrick will also share information he's learned in his 30 years of pottery
experience on clay information, formulas, working tips and problem solving.
As well as glaze formulas and suggestions for acheiving specific surfaces and
colors at the cone 6-9 range. (Patrick's current work in cone 6 reduction
will knock your socks off IMHO).

This workshop will be held Saturday, March 4th, from 9-5pm, and Sunday, March
5th, from 10-5pm. The cost is $80 for members of the SAA and $90 for
non-members. For more information and to register please call: (503)581-7275
or write to the
M.T. Sherman Community Ceramics Center, 1220 12th St. S., Salem, OR 97302. I
can also be reached by e-mail at AT2350F@AOL.COM.

Thanks
Karl Knudson

I have to put my two cents in about this workshop. Pat is a fantastic
workshop presenter, fabulous potter with a gentle demeanor. This is one
you won't want to miss. M. Zeek, Oregon
