it is amazing how shino can be so many things.
we had one firing at the farm, salt kiln...i had
about 15 bowls that i glazed with shino, soda ash.
fired like normal.
all systems go.

when we opened the kiln, well all the shino was
pure white.
silk white.
so boring it makes one sick.

just got it on too thick...even coat.
man, you wonder why you get up that day.
good lesson however.
great evidence.
one learns a great deal from 15 pure white bowls.
`don't do that again.`
think and understand thickness of application.
it is very important for every glaze, every glaze.
test your glaze dipping, use a broken piece of bisque.
count the seconds that you dip. check the thickness of the glaze.
it means a great deal......any vet on this list knows that.

so will you do something to all those white
bowls and fire them again, or what happens
to them now?

what is your thinking on refiring work?
