kiln ventilation and safety

The discussions a month or so ago about kiln ventilation prompted me to
write to Duncan Ceramics for the MSDS's on all their commercial glaze
products. Included in their helpful packet were also several very
informative papers on kiln ventilation and safety, readable by yokels such
as me.

If you are left with any questions about how safe your kiln hygiene is, I
recommend these materials. The address is

Duncan Ceramics
5673 East Shields Avenue
Fresno, CA 93727

(sorry, no E-mail address given)

I prepare for a long trip which will include going to Gail Kendall's
workshop in West Palm Beach, hopefully to learn more about my favorite clay-
terra cotta, and how she fashions her great pieces, which while trendy in
surface decoration, still show plenty of "clayness."

Thanks, CLAYARTERS, for this incredible site, and all that I have learned in
the last three months of loggin in.

Marian, breathing clean but cold air in Northern Michigan.
