Hi Janet

However it got his honorable name attached to it, the McKenzie effect as I
understand it describes the attitude that craftsman-made items should be
produced in some volume (ie. he should be working hard! No farting about like
those effete ceramic academicians!), in accordance with the ideals of Morris
and Leach, and priced low enough so humble proletarians like you and I can
afford them, even as we are culturally and spiritually improved thereby,
Amen.

I was anxiously awaiting an answer to Janet's question about the MacKenzie
effect---living on this side of the "pond", I figured I should know what it
was, but I didn't. I am absolutely delighted with Ned's definition---thank
you for the enlightenment! It was a good laugh!

I started out with nothing, and I still have most of it left.
