Friends -
Here is the list to date of potters who let me know they would be firing
on New Year's Eve. It is not complete as some people notified me but did not
sign a name or location and did not respond to the query for more specific
information.
Lana in Somerville, MA
Andi in San Diego
Pat Lindemann, South Dakota
Sylvia See, Claresholm, Alberta Canada
Merrie in Mississippi
My kiln is near Bewdley in Worcestershire. A lot of people from
Birmingham (20 miles away) have never heard of it, not a big place.UK
Jeanne Wood, Moscow, Idaho
Sheron Roberts & friends. on Lake Waccamaw, NC
Corinne Null, Bedford, NH
Sandy, Huntsville, Alabama
>From his last post I would guess - Mel (?) in minnetonka, minnesota
and I, Chris, will be firing in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Being a total cold weather wuss, I am praying for a warm spell ... no arctic
blasts from Canada please.

Thanks for the list Chris. From the emails on the list I thought it would be
longer. We are sure glad you came up with the idea here in Claresholm. I had
2 more potters come in today with their work and the front room is piling up
with alot of work. We may be building a second kiln before New Years Eve if
this continues. Everyone is getting excited here. About the weather!!!!! We
hit over 20 C here again today. We have had the windows open and folks
golfing in shirt sleeves. We are sure hoping that it hangs around until
after the New Year, especially until we get the kilns loaded and the sawdust
with a good burn going. This is very very unusual weather for us in Alberta
Canada, but let me tell you we are singing appreciation. Hopefully any cold
blasts you may get will not be from our neck of the prairies.

Hi all you millennium pyromaniacs!
Is anyone/everyone making/firing a tile for The Path too? We have two
pre-millennium tiles from Mel in Minnetonka already but how about everyone
else? PLEASE!
We will be thinking of all you potters and path makers at 24:00 hrs
Greenwich Mean Time - fair weather or foul. Firing a kiln will certainly be
potentially a lot cosier than The Grand Opening of The Path here on the
exposed coast in the sleet, snow, wind and rain that is forecast!! Of course
we are certifiable.
But what a way to start out the next thousand years... Another 30
generations or so before the next one. Wonder how many of the pots being
fired for the millennium will be sitting in museums by then? And how much of
The Path will still be visible? Any? All? Or just laying there ready to be
discovered by an archaeologist?
But do not let the idea it may not be around by 3000 AD put you off making a
tile... We still need another 4,000 or so to finish off for this generation!
Thanks

Janet,
Come to think of it, i have several tiles made by some of my young students
a while back. I was going to use them to tile my studio counter top but
never did. I would love to donate tham to The Path if you would like them.
they are about 4=22 x4=22. I haven't checked out the web site yet to get =
the
particulars. Will do that next.
