Alisa - I have been teaching highschool students (ages 14-19) to throw for =
25
years now=3B some improve, some don't. I teach hand position using the =
=22clock=22
method: with high schoolers you must never take for granted that they
understand certain words, clockwise, counter-clockwise since most of them =
have
been brought up on digital watches and clocks=21=21 Some, and I am NOT =
making this
up(=21) cannot tell time using a standard wall clock=21=21 So, I have a =
cardboard
clock that I use to show them where there hands should be (15:00 for you
Europeans=3B 3:00 for us US folks) Then, I stand over them as much as =
possible (
after the intial discovery of =22making a mess as big as possible, giggling =
and
shouting=22 has worn off) I will say 3:00, 3:00, 3:00 until one of us =
decides to
do something else for a bit. I try to video them as well so they can see =
their
own hand positions and what exactly is wrong - or right=21 Someetimes, =
I'm
successful in getting them to understand what they should be doing, =
sometimes
not. I find too that if I'm very stern in making them support their elbow =
on
their knees, or tight into their sides, success isn't quite so fleeting. =
Don't
know if this will help . Carly Chichester - usually a =22lurker=22
