Glad you enjoyed a traditional London welcome....
The best I've seen were in the bar at the Philharmonic pub in Liverpool
(brass and marble from about 1890) - if they're still there. In London, the
Savoy has some pretty good porcelain, although it's not a frequent watering
hole...
Sorry about the theft
Richard

Mel -
I was in London for the last ten days for my son's wedding. Spent plenty of
time in pubs, and therefore got to examine a great many old urinals -
beautiful sculptural shapes, finely crazed, nice tile-work surrounds. The
visit went too fast, and was excellent, except for a minor bout with the
dreaded London flue, gridlock on the M-25 which almost caused us to miss our
return flights, and my wife getting pickpocketed (pickpursed?) in the
British Museum. Minor stuff, really, in comparison to all the fun we had.
