carpal tunnel incision/ganglion

I had ganglion surgery in 1979 prior to bilateral carpal tunnel surgery
in '84. My hand was so bad I couldn't lift a glass of water. The
ganglion had ruptured after I had unbricked a hard brick kiln door and
was unloading kiln shelves. You are the first potter related person I
have heard mention it. Is it a common ailment?

I have a ganglion cyst in the middle of my palm of my right hand. It is
about the size of a small pea and my doctor says as long as it causes me no
pain or difficulties, just leave it alone. It bothers me not at all, so I am
following his advice.

Someone else told me that an old-time way to get rid of this cyst is to whack
it with something (like a book) and cause it to break and empty under the
skin. Sounds painful to me, so I am leaving it alone. To me, surgery is
always a last resort.

I had a ganglion cyst when I was in my late 20's. It was on the
back of my hand near where the bone leading from the index
finger meets the wrist. My doctor told me it would go away on
it's own and it did. If I wanted to speed things along he said
old timers slapped the thing with a bible......I passed. I had a
friend who had one in exactly the same place as I did.
Jennifer getting so 5 degrees f. feels pretty warm.....

Hey! I had a ganglion cyst. The orthopedic surgeon gave it a shot with a
hypodermic (hypocystic?) needle. He than massaged the medicine thus injected
for a bit with his fingers and it just melted away. He told me the story
that in the old days these were called BIBLE cysts. It seems that the way to
get rid of them was to hold a big bible so that the spine of the book would
hit the cyst when you chopped down onto the cyst, and burst it.
mine was at the base of my big finger and it was annoying and hurt some. I
recomend the injection operation.

I had a ganglion cyst somewhere, can't quite remember where. Doc squirted some
cortisone into it and it was gone in a day or two. Probably affected my memory
and spelling though. Ah know I remember it was on the palm side of a finger,
just where the finger might hit the rim of a drum, in fact that is how I
thought I got the thing. Drums should be made out of rubber, not clay.
