Little old Hometown USA (Glens Falls, NY 50 miles north of Albany, 10 miles
south of Lake George, 1/2 hour from Vt. border) has a new home for LARAC,
Lower Adirondack Regional Arts Council. The gallery space (Lapham
Gallery) is a super space for shows - roomy, locked showcases and plenty of
wall space. (By the way, Glens Falls is also the home of the Hyde
Collection, which houses a superb collection of old masters and newer
masters, too. The Hyde is either the most important or one of the most
important private collections in NY, for what it's worth...)
At any rate, the inaugural show for the new millenium and the first real
"blockbuster" for the gallery is the current show with works by John
Gallucci, a very well known Glens Falls watercolorist whose career spans 5
decades, and Skidmore's own Regis Brodie, artist extraordinaire in clay
and teacher extraordinaire as well. Regis has a large showing of recent
work, both large and small vessels and sculptural forms. The show is
definitely a must for anyone in the area. Lapham Gallery is open Monday
through Saturdays 10 to 3. The show will be there until March 4.
