Ron I was delighted , and not surprised, to read of your successful
glaze conversions from GB to other fluxes! Just great !!
I had decided to test mid-fire glazes that contained no GB and the first
tests should be out tomorrow...these are tried and true Insight recipes
used by others but not in my palette, so no great risk taken;
Wettlaufer's glazes have no GB either...but Zakin's beautiful glazes
nearly all use it, many in large amounts.
I can't imagine stockpiling such an unknown glaze ingredient as the
current gerstley borate seems to be!
How do you plan to disseminate your newly gained knowledge? I'm sure
many of us have glaze requests on the tip of our tongues just waiting
for you to return from Cermatech, and cash in hand as well...we know it
is your business as well as your passion.
Inquiring minds want to know...just what is Cermatech? A gathering of
ceramic consultants and engineers perhaps?Anyway, enjoy! Lori in
new Port Richey, Fl.

Hi Lori,

I will work on glazes as they come in - I have a hourly rate and will be
happy to give estimates - I can do most glazes in an hour.

Cermatech is a 2 day workshop designed for production potters to help solve
technical issues around production problems. Any one is welcome.

Take a look at their web site
www.offinger.com/cermatech

It's in Clearwater in Florida this year - Feb 3&4.
