Hello ClayArter's ... I was just taking a shot in the
dark... I am looking for someone that is
in Alaska or that has been to Alaska lately... What do
I mean by lately?? I don't know the
last couple of years..
Why?? You may ask.. Well I have a better answer for
that then the last.. :) A good potter
friend of mine has aspirations to move to Alaska and
is taking another trip there.. I am a
bit foggy on where they went, and they are a bit foggy
on where they want to go this
time...
What I do get from the information is that they want
to go somewhere that is populated
but not heavily populated like DC, CA or NY.. Is there
any place that populated in
Alaska?? Well heck if I know.. I have a suspicion that
there isn't any place that populated
in Alaska.. I could be way off.... Any way....
So if you are in Alaska or know someone that is, and
you or they are willing to exchange
e-mail's about Alaska please contact me.. Also, I
think if you are in Alaska that they may
want to get in contact when they get there...
Also, another shot in the dark... If you know of any
web pages that will give one more
then tourist info, that would be nice too...
Thanks
Anji

Hi Anji - I live in Palmer, Alaska, which is about 30 miles North of
Anchorage. Chances are your friends will go to Anchorage. I'm not sure
what you define as "populated" but the population of Anchorage is about
260,000. The next largest city is Fairbanks, with a population of
84,000. However, the entire population for the State of Alaska is about
620,000. Alaska has .93 square miles for each person in the state. By
comparison, New York has .003 square miles per person.
Alaska contains 586,412 square miles. It is one-fifth the size of the
Lower 48 states, 488 times larger than Rhode Island, two and a half
times larger than Texas, and larger than the next three largest states
in the U.S. combined. (Texas, California & Idaho - I think)
These and other interesting facts about Alaska can be found at:
http://www.state.ak.us/ Have your friend check out the section for
Students. It is loaded with neat trivia.
In Alaskan terms, your friends won't be able to get to a "non populated"
area unless they charter an airplane or travel by boat. The road system
is not that extensive and lots of communities are in the middle of
nowhere. In fact, you can't drive to our State Capital. You need to fly
in or take a ferry. The politicians love it, but voters hate it.
I'd be happy to answer any questions. Have your friend e-mail me at
