Peruvian Potter Polo Ramirez will give a demonstration workshop at the
Lee Art Center in Arlington , Va. on Saturday, March 4, 2000. He is
from a small town in Chulucanas, Peru and his work has bee exhibited in
many countries, namely, France, Germany, Mexica, U.S., etc....
Using native clays and earth pigments, he handbuilds, burnishes
and
finishes his pieces with traditional smoke firing processes. He combines
traditional methods with current images and Pre-Hispanic Motifs and
designs.
The workshop will be held from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm and
include
demonstration, lecture and video presentation. In conjunction with the
workshop, the Ellipse Arts Center will present an exhibition of his work
from March 3 thru March 12. Opening reception at the gallery is on
Friday evening, March 3 from 6:30 - 8:30pm.
