Thanks Gail,
I had a complete =22black out=22 when I started to make my cone packs.
I also dropped two of them. If the very tip is broken, can you use them or
are they ruined? I said to Tim in fact, that I did not notice an rougher =
edge
on one of the spines, so your direction information is also helpful as the
number
facing me, which Tim explained. On to try firing the cone 6 now=21
Thanks and regards,

Dear Alisa,
In case you ever get confused or forget what Tim from Orton told you, you
can stand (with a little help=21) the cone on its flat end, and see which =
way
it wants to fall. That's the plane that should face forward, and 99=25
percent of the time it will put the number facing you, just as Tim said.
Every once in a while it is abnormal and so I always test it by seeing how
it wants to fall.

=3E=3E Which way should the pressed in cone number face? For example, I =
have
=3E=3E three
=3E=3E cones in the pack all tilting a bit forward, and the cone mark it =
facing
=3E=3E forward. Is this correct. I do not want them to melt doing =
backdives=21
=3E=3E
=3E=3E Thank you

All else aside, if you place the cone on it's large end (they stand better that
way), the end is beveled at just the angle that the cones are supposed to lean.
You will see which way you have to place them from the way they lean.

Dear Alisa,
Usually when I have broken a cone, I've rejected it for a new, whole one,
mainly because I was stacking a huge kiln with work in it of many people.
However that may be unnecessary waste. On several occasions, it was my
last cone and so I had to make do with it. It seemed to work normally even
with the tip broken.Good luck!
