bentonite & blenders

Stephen, I wonder how you and others are able to use a
blender more than twice?
Every blender I have brought into my studio was almost
immediately destroyed by the grit of the glaze
chemicals, which caused them to leak and be a useless
nuisance to clean up.

Jeez, Jeanne,
what are you running through your poor blender? Gravel? Just kidding.
Seriously, I've used the same Oster blender for almost 15 years now. I
doubt the blades are real sharp any more but it works fine and doesn't
leak. Although it does give off a bit of a burning electrical smell at
times. Oh, well. They're cheap at garage sales. I have worn out one
small blender that I use for making tests, but I make a lot of tests,
and it was free. I'd say you just need to get a better blender.

Well all I can say is that the Moulinex Blender I have in my workshop
has worked VERY hard since I retired it from the kitchen in favour of a
new one having worn out the spice grinder attachment!! and it looks like
there's plenty of life in it yet.

Hi Paul & everyone,

Are you suggesting I'm NOT supposed to grind up gravel
in my blenders? How will I ever make my lovely "gravel
and dirty snow berms" effect glaze? (grin)

Well, I'm convinced enough to try a "Good Will"
blender again. And definately pick up a hand held
blender too.
-Thanks,

Had the same experience with Moulinex blenders. The blender works fine, but
the coffee or spice grinder gave out after quite a short time.
