Hi all,
Sorry I am posting this again since I forgot to give an appropriate subject
in the previous post.

I have a favor to ask anyone who are familiar with marbling clay techniques
to take a look at this URL and tell me what you call this technique of using
layers of different colored clay.

The wife of the potter whose works are displayed in this URL gave me
a permission to post this question to the Clayart List Serve.
Unfortunately the site is only in Japanese but you can see numerous example
of his technique. He calls it Neriage style in Japanese. The patterns are
not painted
but each colors are from colored clay.

I thank you for your generosity to share your knowledge with me & the
Japanese
List Servers.

Dear Aiko,

They are beautiful pots. We have appropriated the Japanese word and
also call this style Neriage. Sometimes we also wedge together
colored clays, throw the resultant ball on the wheel and get a less
controlled pattern. This is called Agate ware. I personally make a
few of these pots every year.

Hope this helps.

Aiko -
I enjoyed looking at those images. It is impossible to tell you how they
were done in an email post, because they include almost every colored clay
techniques which exists. There is very little print information about the
techniques available. Virginia Cartwright's video contains excellent
coverage of a few techniques. At the risk of merciless self-promotion, I
will be teaching my colored clay workshop at the Appalachian Center for
Crafts in late May/early June, and it will include all the techniques used
in those pieces. Since you provided your address on your post, I will send
you a workshop brochure.
Best wishes -
- Vince
