I am going off line for a while, but I could not avoid a post on this old
topic. My wife and I were reviewing an exhibition catalog of Kaneshige, an
old (1896-1965) Japanese potter. Kaneshige was named a Living National
Treasure and made almost all of his pots in Bizen. He was quoted in the
catalogue tellinb about using the same technique for repairs and also for
connecting delicate attachments, such as the beak of a bird. He mixed sugar
into some clay and worked that clay into the crack or used it for the
small, delicate attachment piece.
