pit firing residue

Thanks to everyone for the responses to my post. Yes, I have been using pine
sawdust!!! I won't try that again---I wasn't fortunate enough to get the
residue to come off by scrubbing. It will be interesting to see what happens
with my new knowledge when I try my next pit firing.

Dana,
if you want to try again, bisque your ware again. It should burn out most of th
residue and you can re-pitfire.
