I use tin cans for glazing:
Fruit juice for jumbo bowls,
spaghetti sauce for pitchers and casseroles,
green bean, with one place bent into a spout for bottles.
I use a small, 7" diameter, smooth batt to set the can on,
so the drips can be put back in the glaze bucket when done.
When the cans are starting to show some rust, I remove the
bottom to make an open cylinder. These are then used as
"cut worm shields" around tomato plants when they are
set in the garden. They also serve as a water reservoir for
young plants. By the end of the season, holes have rusted
through, and after another year in the tin can boneyard
nothing is left.
