Hello ClayArters:

We will be moving shortly to southwestern Maine, to the village of Bolster's
Mills, a tiny village between Bridgton and Norway, and near North Conway,
N.H.

I am looking for someone in the area who would be willing to trade studio
privileges for my time.

Here, I run a community studio. I plan, advertise and schedule classes,
teach basic throwing and handbuilding, test and make glazes, do all the
firing, perform low-grade maintenance and repair and generally keep the
place organized and relatively neat and clean. My only experience with
firing is in an oxidation environment in an electric kiln, but I am
trainable.

I would be willing to do whatever is needed in someone else's studio in
exchange for some throwing time and space in the kiln. I have a wheel but as
yet, have no kiln.

I am a generally cheerful and optimistic person, not too burdensome to have
around. At 43, I am a responsible professional, able to understand and meet
work requirements. I have been throwing for only a couple years, but have
spent a lot of time at the wheel in those couple years.

The exchange need not be limited to pottery. In my day job, I am the
executive editor of a daily newspaper, and I have the writing, editing and
design skills that an editor should have. I would be willing to trade these
skills, if they were more useful.

If anyone if interested, please email me, or if you want to talk, feel free
to call me at work, 401-596-7791, ext. 248.

Thank you,

Carrie Jacobson
