I have a Small Muller Mixer that I mix my clay in. Now I add my Bentonite
dry to the Raw Material then add Water to mix for 20 min. I was told that I
should always mix the Bentonite in a bucket of hot water then add this to
the Muller mixer.Professional advice needed.

Kenton, I add the dry bentonite last to the bucket of dry materials and
dry mix before adding the ingredients to water. Sieve three times, have
never had a problem. If you add your ingredients to water as you go along,
you can put the bentonite in a blender with water and mix it that way, or
add it to the last dry ingredient and dry mix the two before you add that
to the mixed glaze. The idea is to avoid the globs that bentonite makes if
added to water by itself. Beware anyone who says =22Always=22 and tells =
you
there is only one way to do things in the pottery world.
