Can red iron oxide go black in oxidation at cone 6?
The article in Feb. Ceramics Monthly had me
thinking. I'd love to see oil spot effects, and they did
tests in oxidation, but can it be achieved at a lower
temperature? If you reduced the melting temperature
of the glaze, would the iron still go black?
Of course, that brings me to another question. In
general terms, how would you lower a melting
temperature of a glaze?
Yes, I LIKE testing glazes. Since there are not
classes near me on this, then it's the only way it's
gonna sink in.
