Hi all,
I am shipping out an order of 10 large/10 small plates....an am
wondering how others pack them.
Usually I wrap each plate well with bubble wrap...stack in a box with
peanuts and double box...no breakage.
Is vertical placement any better than horizontal?
Can 2 plates be packed together with adequate bubble wrap in between?
Some of you ship regularly...so any suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks,
sandy

Sandy,
Vertical or horizontal is all the same in a square box. Pack for both
directions. They will be tossed and turned all the way.
I ship 16 and 26 inch platters and have good success by bubble wrapping and
double boxing, each platter in it's own box. Have not lost one yet.
I would not pack two plates together but that's me.
Visualize the box being dropped a few feet a half dozen times.......

Horizontal and vertical have very little meaning when shipping. The boxes
end up on conveyor belts and can be dropped as much as 20 feet into holding
bins. I always use bubble wrap and then pack with peanuts. I believe UPS
recommends 4" of packing material surrounding each piece, including from the
edge of the piece to the box. I am a big fan of double boxing.

I ship plates on a regular basis. I place two plates face to face with a
piece of cardboard between and then wrap the two plates in small bubble wrap.
I double box everything, so the plates go into a box which is placed in a
larger box so that the plates stack vertically. I use two inch of peanuts
above, below and around the interior boxes.
