Hello Clayart:
Penland School of Crafts will host a kiln building workshop April 16-29.
The workshop, which will be taught by potter and kiln builder Tracy
Dotson, will rebuild the existing Penland salt kiln, replacing the soft
brick interior with a hard brick liner. Workshop participants will be
involved in all phases of the process, including tearing down as well as
rebuilding the kiln There will be daily lectures on kiln deisgn, building
processes, and materials. The rebuilt kiln will be fired at the end of
the workshop (bring bisqueware; glazes provided).
The cost of the workshop is $225 which covers room and board for the two
weeks. As of February 22, there are four spaces remaining in the

Penland is located in Western North Carolina, 50 miles north of Asheville
(and it's really nice up here, too).
