reitz green glaze problems

I know Reitz Green is a popular glaze and wondered if anyone had a solution
to a problem I've been having with it. It worked wonderfully the first time
I used it, but the last 3 firings, it has turned brown (yes, I thoroughly
stir it each time I use it). It's not the firings, because everything else
turned out great--good reduction, etc. The recipe is as follows:
Neph Sye 70
Whiting 5
Gerstley Borate 2
Petalite 15
OM-4 Ball Clay 8
Cobalt Carb. 1
Rutile 1

I've been told that the problem is the Gerstley and that if I add 5-10
percent more, it will correct the problem. Any validity to that? Any other
suggestions? Thanks. Lori

If your Reitz Green is brown, chances are that you
are applying it too thin.
Let the glaze sit in the bucket for a few days and then
decant off any water floating on the top, to thicken it up,
and try again!
