Everyone,
My new raku kiln arrived last night. I'm really excited!
While it was being delived, the company owners told me they
have a couple of used/rebuilt wheels available. Those of you
looking for used wheels may wish to contact them at
http://www.gaskilns.com/.

Hi Nancy. I followed up on your message and am getting ready to purchase
one of the used wheels-as least so far I'm heading this direction. I'm a
little nervous about buying something I've never seen from people I don't
know.
Can you tell me a little about your knowledge of them and your experience
with the people at gaskilns.com? Thanks. Rhonda Fried

I would just like to add to this that i was a firm Brent user for 4
years.
I loved the Brent wheels at my High School, and almost bought one. That
is
to say I loved Brent UNTIL i tried a pacifica, now they seem sluggish,
noisy and unresponsive. I find that the pleasure of throwing differs
between the two wheels enough that if i go to the studio and all the
pacificas are taken, i handbuild, glaze, bisque, or go home. I
wholeheartedly recommend the pacifica, simply because it is better, and
cheaper.
It seems almost like the pacificas are an extension of my body, like a
fifth limb that spins. I control it as naturally as my hands. And
also,
the size of the table is larger, which is a big plus if you ask me

Hello clay workers,
I'm looking for any used wheels for sale (electric or
kick)in the west central Florida area. I will begin
teaching throwing classes as soon as I can acquire a
couple more wheels. Thanks.

Hello Bobert,
Are you willing to go outside of your area to purchase? If so I may be able
to help you. I've never heard of the name Bobert, is that a nickname?

Actually the name "Bobert was given to by a dear old
friend named Cramit Janet. She said the word bobert
means creative artist in Greek.

Kurt and Teresa
Sometimes universities aution off old wheels. We just auctioned off 6 old
motorized Randall kick wheels here at Miami University( Oxford Ohio).
People came from as far away as St Louis and we did not even advertise
them. They went fairly high I thought, $350- $500 for a 30 year old wheel.
The bidding was frenzied, level heads did not prevail.
You can buy a new Lockerbie kick with motor for around $700. Someday we
will replace our remaining old Randalls and I will consider posting it on
Clay art. The problem with advertising is it will attract more buyers and
the competition will drive the price illogically high.
Best of luck
Dennis Tobin
