If you are able to -- we still have openings for the Peruvian Potter -
Polo Ramirez Workshop on Saturday, March 4 from 10am - 4 pm. Held at
the Lee Art Center in Arlington, Virginia.
Fee is $50.00.
This demonstration workshop promises to be very informative.
Ramirez is a very well know potter in his country and abroad. He has
had shows in many countries, namely, France, Germany, Mexico, Guatemala,
El Salvador and Costa Rica. He combines traditional methods with
current images and Pre-Hispanic motifs and designs.
He uses native clays and earth pigments, hand builds, burnishes and
finishes his pieces with traditional smoke firing. His objective is to
revive the native ceramic motifs and techniques which have been nearly
lost after the Spanish invasion centuries ago.
If you can't make it to the workshop try and catch a glimpse of his work
at the Ellipse Art Center Ramirez will have a show from March 3 though
March 12. There will also be a reception for the artist at the Ellipse
Art Center
on March 3 from 6:30 - 8:30pm. Parking is free downstairs in the
garage
during the reception.
