you answered my question very well with a good and sound explanation of the
clay porosity, glass melt etc. At what temperature would you consider the
earliest (safe) for doing a body reduction? I once read something like as
early as 06 for development of the chun glaze types. Thanks again.

Llewellyn -
06 is actually pretty hot for beginning body reduction. Most people do body
reduction at 010 or 08, but those seeking carbon-trap shinos or copper reds
sometimes begin as low as 012 or 014.
