We will be visiting London on March 22. We will not have a lot of time, but
I would like to know if there are any must see pottery sites in London. I
appreciate any information.
Thanks,

Marcia,

The Craft Potters Association Gallery in Marshall st (also a good place for
books and magazines), Gallery Besson, The Crafts Council in Pendlton rd
(Islington), The Hart gallery around the corner from the Crafts council,
Contemporary Applied Arts in Percy st and many, many more.
For ceramic books (and you should) hit Charing Cross rd and Foyles, the new
Borders accross the road has a few as well
The Victoria and Albert museum is one of the best and most complete
decorative arts museum in the world. Well worth a visit but not if you're
short of time. The ceramics hall is closed at the moment for lift
renovation. BUT there are LOTS of ceramics of all types scattered all over
the museum.
If you haven't got a place to stay, a cheap, clean, friendly, VERY central
b&b is the Ruskin Hotel in Montegue st across from the Brittish Museum. Can
walk to Foyles, Borders, the new Piccadilly Waterstones, CCA, CPA, the
Besson and many other places from there. #45 a night for single without
bath.
Only one day?

The V and A has a gift store with the crafts guild work. You'll enjoy =3D
it. The V and A collection is overwhelming!

The Museum of London has some pretty good stuff, tho' the best bit was
closed when last went there. check first (this applies to all venues).
Look at :
http://www.spoonfed.co.uk/london/whats-on/exhibitions-1429/ceramics-3332/
You'll need to do a bit of sorting, but there is a reasonable choice if
you're careful.
Best of luck.

I see you're another user of the 'melphabet', no uppercase letters. ;0)
You've had some good suggestions. Note that the Galerie Besson isn't =3D
open on weekends, only weekdays.
The British Museum, aside from it's own ceramic collections, now hosts =3D
the Percival David Collection of Chinese Ceramics in a newly renovated =3D
space. I saw it in it's previous location but hear that the new one is =3D
spectacular. It's an extensive and very wonderful collection.
It's also worth checking to see what Sotheby's (Bond Street and =3D
Knightsbridge) and Bonhams (Knightsbridge) has currently on view =3D
(nothing at the momment). Both of them auction historical as well as =3D
contemporary ceramics. At the viewings you get to HANDLE them. It can be =
=3D
very exciting.=3D20
Have fun, stay warm and dry.
