Vicki Katz on fri 10 mar 00
I am proud to be able to extend an open invitation to join us at the MARCH
28, 2000 Spring meeting of TCAA in Houston. The meeting will be held at
GOLDBERRY GALLERY, 2625 Colquitt, off Kirby, Houston 77098. Phone #
713-528-0405.
This program will be a bit different from others we have presented. I have
monitored the concerns and fears brought up on CLAYART about the health risk
potters are exposed to. We know that in the age of managed care and high
cost of health care, we must take responsibility for our health and well
being. With that in mind, we have invited an expert and specialist in the
field of toxicology to present the March program.
We are very fortunate in that ARCH CARSON,MD,PhD will be our guest. Dr.
Carson is the director of Occupational Medicine Residency at UT Health
Science Center, Assistant Professor of Occupational Medicine & Environmental
Sciences at UT as well as Attending Physician at UT and private practice.
Dr. Carson is Board Certified in Occupational Medicine with the American
Board of Preventive Medicine. He has years of experience with various toxic
exposures that we deal with in our work including chemicals, vapors and
diseases common to potters. He will present a brief program then open the
floor up to questions or issues of concern to clay artist. This is a MUST to
people who teach others about our art as well as those of us who work alone.
Dr. Carson is enthusiastic about offering his expertise on our health & we
are fortunate to be able to take advantage of his great knowledge.
In addition to the speaker, Oliver & Nancy have promised to have the gallery
full of delightful clay art so that we can ooooh & aaahh. Please come,
bring a friend. If you have any questions, please feel free to call the
gallery or Vicki Katz @ 713-880-8157.
