I looked in the archives first, with no luck. I thought I'd read
sometime in the discussion about thinning out
buckets fo thickened slip with some combination of sodium silicate &
water, instead of just water.
I have a 5 gal bucket of earthenware slip that has thickened to
unpourable consistency after a couple of years of storage. Any tips out
there?
TIA

To make a slip thinner or more of a liquid I have used Calgon as a
deflocculant. The deflocculant helps make the slip more fluid and easier to
brush or dip. The percentage of Calgon I use is 0.5% - 2% in dry mix, but if
you have a slip that is really thick I would let the slip sit in water over
night to help thin it for use.
