used wheels in the midwest

I am looking int the possibilities of buying my own wheel, but i don't want
to pay for the new ones and i don't know how I would get a good used one
from across the country. If anyone knows how I could get a decent used
electric or treadle wheel in the midwest (especially iowa), i would
appreciate it if you e-mailed me. I know there must be a wheel out there
just waiting for me to have, i just don't know how to get to it yet. I also
thought about asking local schools or local potters if they are interested
in selling. Good idea? Thanks.

One of the best places for buying used equiptment that I have found is the
local sale paper. Around here it is called the "I WANNA". I found a used
kiln for $75 one time and a Motorized Randall wheel for $350. I have seen a
plain kickwheel for as little as $100. Just keep your eye out and also check
school district auctions. Got my mixer that way. Just remember most
auctions are "as is, where is"

Also try the lagunaclay.com site, they have lots of tools/equipment for sale
listed from all over the United States, you can probably find what you want
there.
