Going to the clayart room, being greeted by Mel, as one greets a guest =
into
their home.

Getting to see all that great equipment one sees only in the magazines,
talking
to the reps.Getting suggestions to fix up the stuff you have, and plans =
for
new.

Going to the clayart room when feeling lonely, chatting with folks, =
putting
faces
with names that you have chatted with on clayart for over a year. =
Getting
offers
of help with my glaze, clay and kiln quest. Viewing samples of the work =
of
the
group. Talking with the sages, you know who you are, about ideas, =
problems
solutions.....

Having dinner with my clayart neighbors from New Zealand and Canada, =
WOW=21

Sitting in the lobby striking up a conversation with the person next to =
you
time
and again, of all ages.

To paraphrase one of these people ,Thalmus Johnson, you come to NCECA
for the people, it is all about the people.

The common thread is the love of clay. A great experience, and without
clayart
to make me feel I belonged I might have missed it. Thank you.

To echo the words of Liz Gowen and THANOS Johnson, it is the people that make ea
and every NCECA a special occasion for studio potters and academics as well. Ple
don't ever lose sight of NCECA as an opportunity to rub shoulders with potters
most people will only know as names in a book or article somewhere. A chance to
share companionships, begin new friendships, share glaze and clay recipes, pick
on some "new" tricks of the trade, and share precious time with our cohorts in
grime. These are all NCECA.
