One way that has worked for me is to rub black (or any color) china paint
into the cracks and then fire to cone 017, this of course will take one
more firing.

I have heard several people say to rub shoe polish
in.. I have never done it but I have heard this...

My favorite (and permanent) way to "get black into a crackle glaze" is to
rub a good quality airbush ink (like "Createx" brand opaque) in with a soft
cloth.

What's really zippy about this approach is that you can experiment with
COLORS! Opaque red can be gorgeous ... and of course, a person can blend
colors (or get creative with a wide palette of colors) for special effects.

By the way -- the product that I mentioned above is (a) very fine grained,
(b) water based, (c) "non toxic", and (d) effectively permanent.

"Can't have enough options," in my opinion! Enjoy.
